A massive, gold-coated sculpture by the Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama has become the striking new centerpiece of The Weeknd’s After Hours til Dawn Tour. This installation marks a significant milestone in concert production, as it is officially the largest fine art piece ever commissioned for a live music tour.
The tour has already solidified its place in history, currently standing as the highest-grossing tour by a male solo artist. The addition of Sorayama’s work further elevates the production value of the massive stadium run, which has captivated audiences worldwide.
A Masterpiece of Modern Art
The sculpture was created exclusively for the tour by Sorayama, an artist globally recognized for his iconic Sexy Robot series. The piece was meticulously carved from polystyrene and cast in Toyama, Japan, before being hand-coated in gold. To enhance its presence on stage, the sculpture features intricate details, including laser-illuminated eyes and integrated smoke effects.

The After Hours til Dawn tour has proven to be a juggernaut, accumulating over $1 billion in revenue across 153 concerts. Originally conceived to support his fourth studio album, After Hours, the tour was delayed by the global pandemic. During that hiatus, the production was significantly revamped to incorporate the sonic landscapes of his subsequent albums, Dawn FM and Hurry Up Tomorrow.
