In a monumental celebration of hip-hop history, Jay-Z closed out the second night of his three-show residency at Yankee Stadium by performing his seminal 2001 album, The Blueprint, in its entirety. The performance marked 25 years since the record fundamentally altered the sonic landscape of rap music.

The Brooklyn icon kicked off the evening with “The Ruler’s Back,” quickly inviting Slick Rick to the stage for renditions of “La Di Da Di” and “Children’s Story.” The 90-minute set maintained a brisk pace, honoring the original production work of Kanye West, Bink, and Just Blaze.

The energy reached a fever pitch when Eminem joined the stage for a powerful performance of “Renegade.” The track, which remains a focal point of hip-hop discourse, served as a highlight of the night. Eminem also treated the audience to a performance of his hit “Lose Yourself” before Jay-Z continued through the tracklist with staples like “Izzo (H.O.V.A.),” “Song Cry,” and “Takeover.”

Pharrell Williams later joined the festivities, contributing to a seamless run of hits including “Excuse Me Miss,” “I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me),” “Frontin’,” and “Allure.”

Reflecting on the significance of the evening, Jay-Z spoke candidly about the album’s original release date of September 11, 2001, admitting he had considered delaying the project given the tragedy the city was enduring at the time. The night concluded with a powerful run of anthems, including “Empire State of Mind,” “N##### in Paris,” “Public Service Announcement,” and “Encore.”

While the previous night featured appearances from Beyoncé, Nas, and Blue Ivy, this second show offered a distinct, stripped-down experience that resonated deeply with fans. The celebration is set to continue with an “Extra Innings” finale before heading to London, Paris, and Los Angeles.
