Today, October 23, 2026, Yung Miami (born Caresha Brownlee) officially released her debut solo album, Watch Dis!. Among the 21 tracks on the project is a poignant song titled “Dear JT,” which serves as a direct address to her former City Girls partner, Jatavia Johnson, better known as JT. The release marks the first time either artist has publicly addressed their relationship since their highly publicized falling out in 2024.
Brandon AlmengoThe track, which features a melancholic production and soulful background vocals from Tiffany Evans, finds Miami navigating the bittersweet memories of their shared history. From the highs of their early career to personal moments spent shopping in Barcelona, the lyrics offer a vulnerable look at a bond that once defined the duo’s trajectory. “Reminiscing in my feelings bout 2018, it was a scene,” she raps, while Evans’ recurring refrain, “Ooh, I’m missin’ you,” underscores the emotional weight of the song.
The pair first formed City Girls in 2017, quickly rising to prominence with the viral success of “Fu*k Dat Ni**a.” Their 2018 breakout year saw them sign with Quality Control, release their debut projects, and gain massive exposure through a feature in Drake’s “In My Feelings” video. Despite their consistent commercial success and multiple award nominations, tensions eventually surfaced following their 2023 album, RAW. A series of public disagreements on social media in early 2024 ultimately led to the group’s split later that year.
In a candid interview with HOT 97 coinciding with the album’s release, Miami revealed that the recording process for “Dear JT” was deeply emotional, noting that she shed tears while laying down the bars. She clarified that she did not preview the track for JT prior to its release and that there has been no communication between them yet. However, Miami remains open to reconciliation, stating, “If the phone call happens, I’ma answer it, and we’ll go from there.”
