Ice Cube maintains a strict boundary against artificial intelligence in his creative process, prioritizing family time and human authenticity.

Ice Cube Keeps AI Apps Out Of His Workday

Legendary rapper and filmmaker Ice Cube has made his stance on modern technology clear: he is keeping AI apps out of his professional life. In a recent look into his daily routine, the multifaceted entertainer emphasized that his creative process—spanning music, film, and the BIG3 basketball league—remains entirely human-driven.

Reflecting on his work habits in a recent interview, Cube noted, “I also don’t use any AI apps.” Instead, he operates from a dedicated home studio and office, maintaining a disciplined schedule that concludes at 6:30 p.m. to ensure quality time with his family.

This commitment to authenticity is not new for the artist. In 2023, he took a firm stand against the unauthorized use of his likeness, warning that he would pursue legal action against anyone utilizing AI-generated versions of his voice without explicit permission. During that time, he famously rejected the concept of listening to a fake Drake track, comparing the unauthorized manipulation of an artist’s voice to sampling without compensation or consent.

Beyond his music, Cube’s film career continues to evolve. It was recently announced that Lawrence Lamont will direct Last Friday, a project Cube is spearheading as a writer, producer, and star. The production, which has received a California state tax credit, is expected to employ over 180 local cast and crew members, keeping the work close to home.

As the entertainment industry grapples with the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, Cube’s approach serves as a reminder of the importance of intellectual property rights. His insistence on permission and payment remains at the center of his advocacy, ensuring that artists retain control over their creative output in an increasingly automated world.
