Amerie Secures Legal Victory in Divorce Settlement

Amerie has achieved a significant legal victory in her divorce proceedings from Lenny Nicholson, with a court ruling that clarifies the division of assets and establishes clear financial obligations. The settlement marks a pivotal moment for the singer as she moves forward with her career and personal life.

According to reports, the judge presiding over the case ordered Nicholson to surrender all of her television tracks and an external hard drive containing her music files, which he had previously retained. This ruling ensures that Amerie maintains control over her creative output and intellectual property.

In addition to the return of her music assets, the court confirmed that Amerie retains full ownership of her music businesses, including Amerie Inc., Cer One Touring, and Mi Suk Publishing. She was also awarded a 2016 Range Rover, solidifying the foundation for her future endeavors.

The financial terms of the settlement mandate that Nicholson pay $2,298 in monthly child support for their son. The court granted Amerie primary physical custody, with Nicholson receiving parenting time every third weekend. While the judge acknowledged that Nicholson’s monthly income of $10,000 exceeded Amerie’s $5,735, the court ultimately rejected his extensive demands for $1.75 million in unpaid commissions, $150,000 for emotional distress, and additional spousal support.

Amerie first addressed the separation during a June 2025 interview with Angela Yee at the BET Awards, noting that while the divorce was ongoing, the couple had been separated since 2023. Reflecting on the experience, she emphasized the importance of personal growth and maintaining high standards in relationships. As she navigates this new chapter, Amerie is reportedly focusing on her creative work, including new music projects with producer Troy Taylor.
