Drake has commissioned a massive, hand-sculpted tribute to Sade's iconic 'Love Deluxe' era, created by artist Rebecca Maria over six months.

Drake Honors Sade With Towering 9-Foot Love Deluxe Sculpture

Drake’s long-standing admiration for the legendary singer Sade has reached new heights—literally. The Toronto-born superstar recently unveiled a nearly nine-foot sculpture inspired by the aesthetic of Sade’s landmark Love Deluxe era. The ambitious piece was commissioned from artist Rebecca Maria, who spent six months meticulously crafting the work by hand.

A Labor of Artistic Dedication

The sculpture serves as a stunning reimagining of the Love Deluxe album cover. According to the artist, the project was a test of endurance and technical skill, requiring the use of five distinct types of clay to achieve the desired texture and structural integrity. Maria, who has previously collaborated with A$AP Rocky on custom chain sculptures, noted that this was the most challenging project of her career.

“I made this the hardest possible way just to see if I could,” Maria shared via social media, detailing the difficulties of managing the weight of the clay and working largely from memory and reference images. Her dedication to the craft has solidified her reputation at the unique intersection of fine art and hip-hop culture, having also produced work for artists like Action Bronson and Lil Yachty.

I made this the hardest possible way just to see if I could. So truly all your kind messages and comments mean so much to me, thank you.

The sculpture stands as a testament to the enduring influence of Sade, who was recently announced as an inductee for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2026. For Drake, whose reverence for the singer is well-documented—including two tattoos of her likeness on his torso—this commission represents a significant bridge between his personal fandom and his role as a patron of the arts.

A Legacy of Influence

While it remains unclear if Sade has personally viewed the towering tribute, the gesture underscores her profound impact across generations of musicians. As the music industry continues to evolve, the connection between icons like Sade and modern titans like Drake remains a focal point of cultural discourse. The sculpture is not merely a piece of decor; it is a statement on the timeless nature of artistry and the deep, lasting connections that define the hip-hop landscape.
