DS Automobiles has revealed its highly anticipated SM TRIBUTE, a tribute to the legendary Citroën SM, celebrating ten years of DS’s avant-garde design. The SM TRIBUTE made its debut at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance event, reflecting the brand’s homage to the past while signaling its vision for the future.
Designed by DS DESIGN STUDIO PARIS, the SM TRIBUTE reimagines the iconic 1970 Citroën SM, which was celebrated for its aerodynamic design and cutting-edge technology. The reinterpretation stays true to the original’s spirit while incorporating contemporary design elements. The sleek, muscular silhouette features a reinterpretation of the classic Gold Leaf color from 1971, combined with a modern bi-tone look and aerodynamic 22-inch wheels.
The design retains the SM’s iconic long bonnet and its trademark rear quarter-panel design, while modern additions, like a 3D light-up screen on the front end, blend vintage charm with futuristic technology. Inside, the SM TRIBUTE showcases a reinterpreted version of the 1970s dashboard, offering a projection-based display and immersive sound and lighting features, maintaining the spirit of luxury and innovation.
Thierry Metroz, Design Director at DS Automobiles, emphasized the importance of blending legacy with forward-looking design: “We have respected the original design while infusing it with details that hint at DS Automobiles’ future projects.”
