Sam Mendes and Sony Pictures Entertainment are developing four separate biopics focusing on each member of The Beatles.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the band’s Apple Corps, its living members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr and the families of the late John Lennon and George Harrison provided the members’ life stories and music rights for the scripted films. Mendes will helm all four biopics and produce alongside Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor, with Jeff Jones executive producing. The biopics is currently scheduled to hit theaters in 2027.
“I’m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” Mendes shared in a statement.
“I know I speak for our CEO Tony Vinciquerra, who was instrumental in making this happen, and every Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group colleague around the world when I say: ‘yeah, yeah, yeah!’” Tom Rothman, chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group, added.
