This achievement ties the longest run ever attained by a non-holiday single by a female artist, placing Langley in the company of industry titans. Her current streak matches the 14-week dominance of Whitney Houston‘s “I Will Always Love You,” which topped the charts across 1992 and 1993, and Mariah Carey‘s 2005 anthem “We Belong Together.” Only one song by a woman has surpassed this duration: Carey’s perennial holiday classic, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which holds the all-time record with 22 weeks at the top spot.
Since first ascending to the top of the Hot 100 in February, “Choosin’ Texas” has resonated with audiences through its classic pop-country structure. The track features a rich, melodic composition anchored by a weeping steel pedal guitar and poignant lyrics centered on the theme of lost love. Langley co-wrote the song alongside a powerhouse team of country songwriters, including Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert, and Joybeth Taylor.
