Family Outraged After Dog Ingests Methamphetamine at Phoenix Hotel

A family is currently seeking accountability from Wyndham Hotels & Resorts following a distressing incident in which their dog ingested methamphetamine during a stay at a La Quinta Inn in Phoenix, Arizona. The incident, which has sparked significant concern regarding hotel safety and cleanliness, was brought to light by a TikTok creator known as Setalks (@setalks).

In a video posted on April 13, the creator detailed the ordeal, which began on March 31. According to the account, the family—including a toddler and their dog—checked into the I-10 West location of the hotel. Initially, the dog appeared to be in good spirits and well-behaved. However, the situation shifted dramatically when the family prepared to leave the room for dinner.

“We notice as we’re leaving the room, getting into the elevator, going downstairs, she is acting completely different,” the owner explained. “She’s literally spinning in circles on the leash. I can’t hold her and my toddler at the same time. She’s out of control.”

Upon returning to the room later that evening, the situation worsened. The owner noted that the dog was wide awake and experiencing excessive drooling. Concerned for their pet’s health, the family contacted an emergency veterinarian. A subsequent urine test confirmed that the dog had ingested methamphetamine. The veterinarian suggested that the substance was likely left behind by a previous guest, either in the form of illicit drugs or prescription medication like Adderall.

‘It could’ve turned out really differently.’

The owner expressed deep relief that it was the dog, rather than their toddler, who encountered the substance. Despite reaching out to Wyndham Hotels & Resorts two weeks prior to sharing the story publicly, the family reports that they have yet to receive a response. They are currently facing $1,800 in veterinary expenses resulting from the incident.

This case highlights the ongoing risks of drug contamination in public spaces. According to PetMD, amphetamine toxicity in dogs can lead to severe symptoms, including hyperactivity, panting, dilated pupils, and in extreme cases, death. Veterinarians advise that if a pet is suspected of ingesting such substances, immediate medical intervention is critical.

This incident is not isolated; similar reports of pets testing positive for methamphetamine after exposure in public areas have surfaced across the country, prompting calls for increased vigilance from both pet owners and hospitality providers. AllHipHop has reached out to both the content creator and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts for further comment.
