British singer Jorja Smith is set to make a significant impact this summer with the announcement of her latest studio album, What Are The Odds. The project promises a club-ready sound, marking a vibrant new chapter in her discography.
To celebrate the announcement, Smith released the lead single, “Alive,” featuring Wizkid. The track is accompanied by a visually striking music video directed by Gabriel Trautmann, filmed in Paris. The song captures the exhilaration of fresh desire, set against a backdrop of intricate, hypnotic percussion.
A New Direction in Sound
According to an official press release, What Are The Odds explores a diverse range of club genres. Listeners can expect to hear influences from UK Garage, Grime, 2-Step, UK Funky, Soulful House, and Afro House. The album will be released through Smith’s longtime label, FAMM.
Release Details and Collaborations
The album is scheduled for release on August 21, coinciding with Smith’s co-headline performance alongside Tems at the All Points East Festival. The project features production from longtime collaborator P2J and includes a notable appearance by grime artist Devlin, who contributes a fresh take on his 2010 cult classic, “London City.”
