The perfect summer outfit should be inherently low maintenance. The idea of spending hours putting together a fit feels excessive when there are functions I could be at or lying on a beach. That idea is the crux behind Internet It Girl and model Raven Tracy’s eponymous label Body by Raven Tracy, which merges vibrant colorways with athleisure and summer-ready silhouettes for sets that are perfect without any additional fussing. Many have already caught on: her drops are continuously sold out and have been seen on A-Listers like Emily Ratajkowski, Coi Leray, and Kylie Jenner.

On May 21, Tracy unveiled the brand’s latest collaboration with rap superstar Latto for her most supremely summer set yet. Inspired by the colors of the Jamaican flag and Latto’s new song “Somebody,” the matching mini shorts ($69) and top ($69) ride the fine line between sporty and sexy. Like all of Tracy’s designs, it’s size-inclusive (from XXS to 4X).

“Latto, she’s a real Clayton County girl, a true Southern rapper, and the way she moves is all vision and taste,” Tracy tells The FADER of the drop over email. “I feel like this collab embodies that raw, uncut superstar energy. I really admire that about her — it just feels real, like Body.

The FADER: How did you two meet, and how did this collaboration come about?

Raven Tracy: We just physically met, but we’ve been admiring each other. Our teams coordinated for her to wear our top-selling Backshot Swim last year for the “Big Mama” music video and it was such an impactful moment. When the conversation came up about a collab, I was super interested. We had a lot going on in 2024, but we managed to carve out time in both of our busy schedules to focus on this.

Latto: I love Raven! She’s soooo pretty and such a boss! I’ve ordered from her brand plenty of times before I ever got a PR package (lol). We’ve been in talks of doing a collab for a while now but I knew me dropping the song “Somebody” opened the most organic window to finally do it.

How did you land on the Jamaican colors and theme?

Tracy: Latto was coming out with the song “Somebody,” and she set the stage on a beach in Jamaica, in a thong, just serving a whole vibe. She shot the video there and specifically wanted Jamaican colors. She wasn’t locked in on anything design-wise outside of the palette, so with summer approaching I designed cute mini shorts and a three-quarter zip-up raglan top as a play on one of our bestsellers, the “Body Basics.”

Raven, your brand is known for its inclusivity in sizing. Why was that important to you?

Tracy: When I think about creating a brand that’s for everybody, I genuinely mean everybody. We already have enough brands that thicker girls can’t fit. I’m also one of those people who asks immediately, “What are the biggest size pants you have?” because most brands just don’t fit my lower half, so I understand how frustrating that can be. That’s why I created a brand that ranges from XXS to 4X — nine sizes in total. It’s not the easiest thing to do, but I’m passionate about it. You’re supposed to feel confident when you put on clothes and I want girls to wear this collab (and everything from Body by Raven Tracy) — and feel their most confident.

Latto, your song “Somebody” samples Aaliyah’s “Are You That Somebody.” What’s your relationship to that song?

Latto: My dad is a big fan so he made sure to teach us all things Aaliyah. We grew up listening to her and watching all her videos. Gone too soon.

What was it like to work with your sister who directed the music video?

Latto: Brook is such a visionary. When I played her the song she told me exactly what she saw for the video and I was like “Girl, you need to direct it for real!” I wish she would shoot everything! We work really well together because we understand each other. She put a different level of care, energy, and attention into the project! My sissy always wants the best for me! Love her for that!

What are your styling tips for the Latto by Body set?

Latto: I feel like you can wear it out or running errands. It’s so sexy and casual at the same time! I wore mine with a vintage Dior satchel from the Rasta collection to pay homage to Jamaica (hence the music video).

Tracy: Less is more! Moisturize really well, throw on your favorite shoes, grab a cute little bag, and be on your way.
