Chances are your brain has little to no space left to consume any more mash-ups. They’re as close to a cheat code to going viral that exists beyond a diligent PR team, millions of dollars, and luck. As a result they’ve become something like the superhero movie of the music world: ubiquitous and unremarkable. Blaccmass manages to stand out with his mash-ups, though, thanks to a balance of blatant crowd service and shrewd combinations that reveal a love and respect for rap. Now, he’s remixed all 30 tracks on Playboi Carti‘s recent album MUSIC.

Blaccmass is Music takes a cue from the original project, which paid extensive tribute to the sounds of Carti’s hometown of Atlanta. This new version makes the homage more explicit, incorporating beats like Roscoe Dash’s “Show Out” and Jeezy’s “All There.” But more cities and sounds are pulled in too, like Houston’s UGK (“Wood Wheel”) and Mobile’s Rich Boy (“Throw Some Ds”). Like the original project, Lil Wayne has a big presence here, too (“Lollipop,” “Motivation”). The project may be a novelty, but for both Carti fans terrified of oldheads and blog veterans alike, it’s a mindlessly fun way of injecting some late ’00s-early 2010s rap into your listening habits.
