When speaking with Pompano Beach MC Loe Shimmy, it is clear that the momentum following his appearance on Drake’s latest album, HABIBTI, is not something he intends to waste. Fresh off the release of the project, Shimmy is already back in the studio in Miami, focused on his upcoming album, Pretty Girls Run The World, and his latest single, “Body Dangerous.”

Shimmy’s rise has been defined by a relentless work ethic. Whether he is recording in private jets or collaborating with peers like YTB Fatt and Fox BD, he maintains a pace that few can match. This drive is exactly what caught the attention of Drake years ago, long before the two solidified their creative partnership.

A Long-Standing Creative Connection

The collaboration on “I’m Spent,” a clear standout from Drake’s triple-album release, was a long time in the making. Shimmy originally sent the song idea to the superstar over a year ago. The track’s nocturnal, shimmering production—reminiscent of Shimmy’s 2024 project Nardyworld—provides a perfect backdrop for the two artists to trade verses. Drake’s deeper, more measured delivery complements Shimmy’s signature gliding falsetto, resulting in an emotional depth that has resonated strongly with listeners.

Reflecting on their history, Shimmy recalls the first time Drake publicly supported his music. “It was unexpected,” he says. “A n***a woke up, ‘Drake posted you,’ you feel what I’m saying? That’s one of the big reasons why a n***a kept going.” That early validation served as a vital catalyst for Shimmy, who admits he was questioning his path at the time. “That one repost meant a lot more than he think.”

From Mutual Respect to Studio Success

The relationship between the two has evolved from social media shoutouts to genuine friendship. After first linking up in person during the Zombieland 2 era, they maintained a consistent line of communication. “When we linked in person, it was just genuine energy bro,” Shimmy explains. “I love his music, he fuck with my music, and I just fuck with bro hard.”

When it came time to finalize “I’m Spent,” the process was collaborative and precise. Despite the time gap, Drake remembered the demo and reached out while Shimmy was traveling in Africa. “He helped orchestrate the whole song, that n***a a real genius,” Shimmy notes. “Switched the beat up – he a real wizard.”

As he looks toward the future, Shimmy remains grounded in the same hunger that brought him to this moment. With Pretty Girls Run The World on the horizon, he is ready to prove that his success is only just beginning.
