While Lotus hasn’t officially unveiled its latest concept car, the Theory 1, first-look reports and teasers have begun to surface of the all-electric supercar that showcases the brand’s cutting-edge technology and design. With a top speed of 200 mph and a sleek, futuristic three-seat configuration, the Theory 1 demonstrates that Lotus is still focused on high-performance sports cars, even as it expands into the EV and SUV markets

Powered by a 987 hp electric drivetrain, the Theory 1 boasts a 0-62 mph time of under 2.5 seconds and a range of 250 miles. Thanks to innovative materials like recycled glass fiber and titanium, the Theory 1 weighs only 3,500 lbs, said to be a purposeful tie back to the brand’s founder Colin Chapman’s famous principle of “simplify, then add lightness.”

Inside, the Theory 1 features a futuristic “fluidic feedback” cabin with responsive, inflatable controls that appear on demand, making the driving experience more intuitive and tactile. Lotus has also incorporated laser lighting, 3D-printed components and binaural audio systems to enhance the driving environment.

Lotus is expected to be sharing more details on the Theory 1, later today, September 17, during the concept vehicle’s official launch.
