Lucy Bedroque is part of a broader wave of rappers and producers whose work straddles the line between hip-hop and electronic music. Alongside friends and collaborators Slayr, prettifun, and ezcodylee, his recent output has been characterized as part of a digicore resurgence. While the artist himself might object to the categorization, the sound is undeniable: a fusion of emotionally-charged lyrics and titanic 808s that feels both personal and explosive.

Bedroque’s earlier work, including his output as lostrushi, leaned into a plunderphonics ethos, stitching together disparate elements with whiplash-inducing speed. However, his latest project, Unmusique, is a brutally hard-hitting record that stands toe-to-toe with the most aggressive rage rap. From tracks like “G6 Anthem” to “Ouija,” the music is designed to scramble brainwaves and ignite moshpits.

The FADER caught up with Lucy Bedroque backstage at Rolling Loud 2026 to discuss his creative evolution, his fashion sense, and the meaning behind his moniker. When asked about the transition from his previous alias, he explained that “Lucy” has always been his persona, while “Bedroque” was inspired by a brand he admires. The combination, he feels, captures his identity perfectly.

Regarding the title of his album, Unmusique, Bedroque admits it was a reaction to his own creative shift. “I definitely strayed away from my general sound,” he says. “A lot of people I don’t think would have fucked with it because it was like new and they probably think it’s bullshit. Hence, Unmusique—it’s like, not music.”

Looking ahead, Bedroque is focused on collaborative projects, including a potential joint tape with his peers in the collective ROYGBIV. He also teased a new track featuring Ilykimchi that samples Deadmau5, signaling that his experimental streak is far from over.
