It’s the age of the celebrity memoir and DJ, producer, and all-around musical genius Mark Ronson is next to release a book about the story of his life. He’s getting specific though, focusing on the chapter of his life coming up as a DJ in the ’90s of New York City in his forthcoming book aptly titled, NIGHT PEOPLE: How to Be a DJ in 90’s New York City. The book arrives September 16, 2025, via Grand Central Publishing, and will serve as a time capsule of the city’s nightlife scene in that era as much as a personal document.

“DJing in 90s New York City informed everything I ever did after, becoming the foundation for all my future work and creativity,” said Ronson of the project in a press release. “In Night People, I wanted to capture that transformative period of my life and celebrate three of my great loves: the art of DJing, the thrilling energy of New York City after dark, and the wild and wonderful characters who populated our world and became my second family. This book is my love letter to a vanished era that shaped not just my career but my identity—a time when finding my craft put me on the path to finding myself.”

The book will trace his journey as a teen obsessing over DJ Stretch Armstrong, crate-digging in New York City, and grinding through the gigs that’d eventually put him on the map. It’ll also serve as a way to discuss the many venues that made up the city’s thriving and lawless downtown scene. We’re hoping it’ll make some mentions of bygone institutions like Roxy, Palladium, Tunnel, and more.
