Meek Mill’s Former Associate Sentenced to 8 Years in Cargo Theft Ring

Salahudin “Dean” Reddy, a former childhood friend and one-time member of Meek Mill’s Dreamchasers circle, has been sentenced to nearly eight years in federal prison. The sentencing follows his conviction for his involvement in a sophisticated cargo theft operation that resulted in over $1.5 million in losses.

Federal prosecutors in Philadelphia announced that the 39-year-old received a 94-month prison sentence from Chief U.S. District Judge Wendy Beetlestone. Upon his release, Reddy will be required to serve an additional three years of supervised release.

A Criminal Conspiracy Unraveled

According to federal authorities, Reddy was a key participant in a large-scale conspiracy that targeted tractor-trailers throughout the Philadelphia area between January and July 2023. The crew specifically monitored interstate shipments, striking when vehicles were left unattended overnight or while drivers were resting. Using tools such as bolt cutters, the group systematically breached trailers to extract high-value merchandise for resale through local black-market contacts.

Court records detail a series of high-dollar thefts, including the misappropriation of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of frozen crab legs and over $360,000 in Samsung televisions. In a particularly unusual heist, the group also successfully stole more than $230,000 in U.S. dimes from an interstate shipment. In total, the operation victimized more than 10 businesses.

The End of a Once-Close Friendship

The sentencing marks a definitive end to a chapter that was once defined by Reddy’s proximity to Meek Mill. The two were childhood friends, but their relationship eventually dissolved into a public and acrimonious feud. In 2024, Reddy appeared in a widely discussed interview with DJ Akademiks, where he alleged that the rapper had turned against his former associates.

The fallout from their fractured friendship extended to other figures in the industry, including Wale, after the MMG rapper was photographed with Reddy. This association sparked a public disagreement between Meek Mill and Wale, further fueling the tension. Reddy eventually released a diss track titled “Stay Reddy,” which served as a final public declaration of the rift between the former friends.

Reddy pleaded guilty in March to charges including conspiracy, multiple counts of theft from interstate shipments, and the possession of stolen government property.
