Minase Paints a Dark and Mysterious Mood in New Limited-Edition Timepiece

Independent Japanese watchmaker Minase has released the Horizon GEN DLC, an ultra-limited watch release with only 25 pieces.

GEN – a part of the reference’s name – derives from the Romanized spelling of the “玄” kanji character. While the character can possess many different meanings, Minase was drawn to the character’s connotations of darkness, depth and mystery — an inspiration that is implemented into the timepiece’s color palette.

Modeled after the watchmaker’s signature Horizon silhouette, the new time-teller is dressed in an intense black DLC coating and alternating gloss and satin finishing. Measuring 38mm in case diameter, the timepiece stars a PVD-covered steel dial in a tonal design. Accentuating the dark dial are lume-filled and polished steel hands and a 3 o’clock date display.

The limited-edition watch is engineered with a 50-hour power reserve, beating on a high-end and incredibly precise Swiss-made movement. The caliber is based on the ETA 2892 ébauches and is assembled with MPS lubrication-free bearings, complete with the ETACHRON regular system and Minase’s drill head logo incorporated onto the rotor.

The Horizon GEN DLC is now available for purchase via Minase’s official website for 4,700 CHF (around $5,300 USD).
