A Newark, New Jersey, Uber Eats driver has sparked a viral debate after documenting what he claims was a series of paranormal events while working a late-night delivery shift. The driver, known as Marcus (@marcus.wilson.xc on TikTok), captured the unsettling experience on his vehicle’s dash camera, leading to over 1.6 million views and widespread speculation across social media.
A Chilling Encounter in Newark
Marcus, who frequently shares his delivery experiences, issued a stark warning to his fellow gig workers in his video caption: “You live near a cemetery, you better cancel your order or get you another driver.” The footage begins with a routine drive, but the atmosphere shifts dramatically as he passes the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. According to the creator, the situation escalated from a simple delivery to a potential supernatural confrontation.
The interior dash camera footage shows a quick, blurred shadow passing over the lens, which Marcus interpreted as a spirit entering his vehicle. The situation reportedly worsened as the driver claimed his car began vibrating violently. “I didn’t get the passenger window vibrating but that [expletive] was vibrating HARD,” Marcus noted in his description, adding that he heard rhythmic tapping on the glass despite being completely alone.
The encounter reached a climax when the passenger-side door appeared to open and close on its own. Marcus expressed his belief that the entity was attempting to lure him out of the safety of his vehicle. “It was trying to trick me into going outside so it can get in,” he wrote. “It was already tapping that window like it wanted to hop in.”
Analyzing the Evidence
While the footage has captivated viewers, skeptics have been quick to offer alternative explanations. The dash camera used, a Vantrue N2X, is known for its high-quality 2.7K front-facing footage, but its interior camera is capped at 1080p. Some suggest that the “apparition” could be a technical artifact or a failure of the camera to properly render quick movements in low-light conditions.
The online community remains divided. While some viewers have dismissed the video as a staged stunt, others have expressed genuine concern, with one commenter noting that the footage provided more “evidence” of the paranormal than typical ghost-hunting television programs. AllHipHop has reached out to Marcus for further comment, but as of now, the mystery of the Newark cemetery encounter remains unsolved.
@marcus.wilson.xc Doing my usual uber eats delivering and a ghost enters my car uninvited and I see this shoe move on the side of the road. I didn’t get the passenger window vibrating but that shi was vibrating HARD. It seriously scared me more than the shoe or the ghost tryna open my door. it was trying to trick me into going outside so it can get in. it was already tapping that window like it wanted to hop in. Hightailed out. you live near a cemetery, you better cancel your order or get you another driver #ghostcaughtoncamera #ghost #cemtery #ubereats #spirits ♬ original sound – marcus5ivee
