The first glimpse of How To Leave Your Body, the forthcoming album from Not Waving.
Not Waving, the London-based Italian artist and ECSTATIC label head Alessio Natalizia, comes together with Marie Davidson for ‘Hold On’, a stunning, urgent ode to teenage love. Pairing driving synthesis with Davidson’s cinematic delivery, the “downbeat trance hymn” is a devastating first glimpse at How To Leave Your Body, the new album from Not Waving.
The album features collaborations from a remarkable cast of collaborators, including Jim O’Rourke, Jonnine Standish, Spivak and Mark Lanegan, with whom he paired up with in 2019 on one of the best albums of that year, Downwelling. Ruminating on friendship, loss and love over 11 tracks, Not Waving leans into ecstatic rave sensibilities, blending each artist’s remotely-sourced vocal contributions into soulful pop experiments.
‘Hold On’ provides the perfect score to a poignant visual from director Angelo Cerisara, who tells a story of young love, missed connections and complex emotions, underlining the track as a coming-of-age anthem for 2021.
‘Hold On’ is taken from How To Leave Your Body, which arrives on May 14 via ECSTATIC. For more information about Not Waving and his music you can follow him on Instagram. You can also find Marie Davidson on Instagram.
