Rick Ross is calling on his fanbase to take collective legal action following a high-profile appearance by former government official Anthony Fauci before the Senate Homeland Security Committee. The Miami rapper took to his Instagram Story on Friday to express his frustration with the proceedings, specifically targeting Fauci’s decision to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights repeatedly during the hearing.
Ross urged his followers who received the COVID-19 vaccination to seek representation from the prominent personal injury firm Morgan & Morgan. “Everybody who got that vaccination, I think y’all better get together with Morgan and Morgan and get y’all class action lawsuit together, ’cause that boy ain’t answering none of that sh*t,” Ross stated in his video. “That boy played the fifth damn near 150 times.”
The hearing, which took place on July 29, saw Nicki Minaj also join the chorus of public criticism. Minaj, who has previously expressed skepticism regarding pandemic-era mandates, shared a scathing message on X, formerly Twitter, condemning Fauci for the long-term ramifications of policies implemented during his tenure.
Fauci’s refusal to answer questions was framed by his legal team as a necessary precaution. In his opening statement, he noted, “Although it pains me to do so, because of the respect I have for the legislative branch of government, and my decades-long record of cooperating with Congress, under the advice of my attorneys, I will invoke my right under the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution to refrain from answering your questions.”
The committee, led by Senator Rand Paul, has been investigating the origins of the pandemic and the transparency of government health officials. Paul has indicated that he intends to move forward with a committee vote to hold Fauci in contempt of Congress, citing the discovery of pandemic-era diary entries that he claims contradict previous testimony provided by the retired doctor.
