Taxstone Sentenced to Additional 37 Months Over Prison Contraband Scheme

Taxstone has been hit with an additional 37 months in federal prison following his involvement in a failed contraband operation at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn. The sentence, handed down by Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis on Friday, May 29, 2026, will run consecutively to the 35-year state sentence he is currently serving for his role in the 2016 Irving Plaza shooting.

The legal trouble stems from a coordinated effort to introduce illicit items into the federal facility. Taxstone, along with co-defendants Ian Diez, Jonathan Guerrero, Abel Mora, and Mayovanex Rodriguez, were accused of orchestrating a plot to bypass prison security. The operation was intercepted on June 30, 2024, when the co-defendants were caught attempting to execute the plan.

Authorities discovered a significant cache of contraband during the bust, including synthetic cannabinoid rope, over 100 strips of synthetic opioids, 27 bags of marijuana, more than 400 cigarettes, two lighters, a scalpel, and a phone charging cord. Reports indicate that the podcaster claimed the operation was intended to generate funds to support his ongoing legal defense regarding his manslaughter conviction.

Taxstone remains incarcerated following his 2023 conviction for the death of Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, who served as a bodyguard for 50 Cent‘s rival, Troy Ave. While he continues to appeal his manslaughter conviction, this latest federal sentencing adds a significant layer of time to his ongoing incarceration.
