Young Thug's legal team is actively defending against a long-standing lawsuit from Lil Wayne's tour bus driver regarding a 2015 shooting incident.

Young Thug Fighting To Keep His Money After Lil Wayne Tour Bus Shooting

Young Thug is currently engaged in a high-stakes legal battle to protect his assets as a decade-old lawsuit stemming from the 2015 Lil Wayne tour bus shooting continues to unfold in the courtroom. His attorneys appeared in Cobb County on Monday to contest claims that he and Bryan “Birdman” Williams orchestrated the April 2015 attack on the bus as it departed an Atlanta concert venue.

The litigation was initiated by Alvin Lewis, the tour bus driver who was operating the vehicle when it was struck by gunfire. Despite the fact that no physical injuries were reported during the incident, Lewis is seeking damages for emotional distress. The central point of contention remains whether Young Thug and Birdman allegedly compensated Peewee Roscoe to carry out the shooting.

Lewis’s legal team has pointed to recorded jail phone calls between Young Thug and Peewee Roscoe as evidence, alleging that the conversations demonstrate an attempt to gain street credibility and reward silence. Conversely, the defense maintains that a $25,000 payment made to cover Peewee Roscoe’s legal fees was a gesture of support for a childhood friend, rather than a criminal transaction.

The history of tension between the artists remains a critical component of the case. Approximately five days prior to the shooting, Young Thug shared an Instagram video featuring threats directed at Lil Wayne. This period was marked by significant friction, as Lil Wayne was embroiled in a dispute with Cash Money Records over the release of his music, a conflict that eventually resulted in a settlement exceeding $10 million in 2018.

Peewee Roscoe’s legal history regarding this incident has been complex. While he initially pleaded guilty to gang charges in 2018, the conviction was later reversed by the Georgia Supreme Court. He eventually accepted a plea deal in the YSL RICO case in December 2024, receiving a sentence of time served. According to Courthouse News Service, Judge Eric Brewton is now tasked with determining whether the evidence presented is sufficient to proceed to a full trial. This lawsuit represents a significant financial challenge for Young Thug, who only recently concluded his involvement in the lengthy YSL RICO proceedings in October 2024.
