Beyoncé has officially dropped her act ii Cowboy Carter album.
The 27-track album features a long list of major collaborators including Post Malone on “Levii’s Jeans,” Miley Cyrus for “II Most Wanted.” Beyoncé’s tracklist includes a cover of Dolly Parton‘s “Jolene.” Parton also appears in an interlude, as does Linda Martell, who was the first black female solo artist to play the Grand Ole Opry and Willie Nelson. Queen Bey also gives her own rendition of the Beatles hit “Blackbird,” which Paul McCartney wrote to address the racial tension of the American south in the ’60s.
The album arrives after Beyoncé dropped two singles to tease the album. “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages” were immediate hits and caused a ruckus when it was revealed during the Super Bowl. The album is the highly anticipated second act of her RENAISSANCE era. In a note posted to Instagram, Beyoncé explained that this album “was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn’t. But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive.” Have a listen to the album below.
