Cardi B has officially announced her second studio album. Am I The Drama? will arrive on September 19, 2025, a full seven years after the release of her massively successful and groundbreaking debut project Invasion of Privacy. Check out her announcement and cover art below.
What has Cardi B been up to since Invasion of Privacy?
Not long after Invasion of Privacy came out in 2018, Cardi kept her momentum alive with a couple of well-received singles. “W.A.P” featuring Megan Thee Stallion dropped in 2020 was one of the biggest hits of that year, and the ubiquitous “Up” eventually went 2x platinum (both of these songs appear on the 23-song tracklist of Am I The Drama?). Other tracks, like “Hot Shit” featuring Kanye West and Lil Durk as well as featuring “Bongos,” failed to make an impact.
Cardi’s most recent single “Outside” was released last Friday. “I made this song a few months ago when I was very, very angry,” Cardi said on IG. “I had to change some bars because I was angry, honey.”
She’s also kept up a steady stream of features, including tracks with Latto, Rosalia, and FendiDaRappa.
Cardi is also a regular presence in film and on TV. Cardi can be seen in roles in F9, Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow, and an episode of Baby Shark’s Big Show! as Sharki B.
Why was Am I The Drama? delayed?
In May 2025, Cardi blamed her new album’s delay on featured artists not returning their contributions. “Y’all don’t want to miss this opportunity,” she said in an Instagram Live. “I’ll sing this shit myself! But I really need y’all and I need y’all to hurry up and I love y’all. I feel like nobody want to miss being on this album.” These features have not been publicly revealed yet.
Why did Cardi name her new album Am I The Drama?
While Cardi hasn’t officially addressed the album’s name yet, it’s likely a witty, more self-aware follow-up to Invasion of Privacy‘s defiant title and a tongue-in-cheek reference to her persistent appearances on gossip blogs. Her relationship with now-ex-husband Offset has been closely watched, and Cardi has not been shy about keeping the public updated on their back-and-forth.
In 2022, Cardi won a $1.2 million defamation lawsuit against gossip blogger Tasha K, who the rapper accused of fabricating stories about her family, health and child. After Tasha declared bankruptcy, Cardi was able to secure a $1.2 million payment plan that also prevents Tasha from writing negatively about her or her family in the future.
The next year, a concertgoer accused Cardi of hitting him with a microphone. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police declined to press charges, and the mic was auctioned for charity.
What songs are on Am I The Drama?
The tracklist isn’t out yet but Apple Music shows that the record will contain 23 songs including singles “Outside,” “Up,” and “WAP.”
