Lil Uzi Vert spared no theatrics for their 31st birthday, surprise releasing a new EP, Maverick “Almost Forever”, and crashing Major Lazer’s Lollapalooza set on Saturday to perform “Just Wanna Rock” among other songs. The artist had been scheduled to play Grant Park on Friday evening ahead of headliner Charli xcx, but Lollapalooza officials projected a statement on the stage announcing the Lil Uzi Vert cancellation “due to weather issues.” However, the four-time Grammy-nominated rapper proved they were not about to be rained out.

The surprise drop functions as both a birthday tradition and a gesture of goodwill toward fans who were left disappointed by the festival cancellation.
The new EP consists of eight tracks with no features, marking a return to the melodic trap style that defined much of the artist’s earlier work, following the experimental nature of Pink Tape. Eagle-eyed fans have already begun dissecting the cover art, where the message “Album after this” appears to be hidden within the eye of a child depicted in the image. While a 2026 LP seems plausible, the artist’s history of project delays suggests that fans should temper their expectations regarding a specific release date.
