These assertions were detailed in an amended answer and counterclaims filed by Sean “Diddy” Combs on August 11, marking a significant escalation in their ongoing $30 million federal court battle.
The filing specifically disputes the narrative presented by Lil Rod, whose legal name is Rodney Jones, regarding the recruitment of sex workers in Miami. Diddy’s legal team points to statements Jones made in a Netflix interview, where he claimed he was instructed by Combs and his team to wear a “Bad Boy hat” and recruit women for the house. Diddy categorically denies these claims, stating, “Mr. Combs never told Mr. Jones to ‘recruit[] sex workers.’ Mr. Combs never told Mr. Jones to put on his ‘Bad Boy hat’ and ‘get some girls to come back to the house.'”
Instead, the filing offers a starkly different account of the events, suggesting that Jones acted on his own initiative. “Upon information and belief, Mr. Jones had a personal proclivity for sleeping with sex workers and would hire sex workers for himself on his own accord,” the document asserts.
Furthermore, Diddy’s legal team addresses allegations regarding drug use during the production of The Love Album: Off the Grid. While Jones has previously alleged that he was drugged without his consent, the new filing claims otherwise. “Upon information and belief, Mr. Jones voluntarily consumed drugs and alcohol while working on the Album. Mr. Jones’s statements in his Netflix interview that Mr. Combs drugged him are positively false and Mr. Jones knew they were false because no such thing ever happened,” the filing states.
Rodney Jones has maintained his original allegations since filing his lawsuit against Diddy in February 2024, which included claims of sexual assault, forced solicitation, and non-consensual drugging. While these new accusations from Diddy serve as a formal counter-narrative, the filing does not provide independent evidence to substantiate the claims regarding Jones’s private behavior.
The legal situation remains complex, as Diddy’s filing attempts to frame these competing accounts as a defamation claim. Meanwhile, a court ruling from March 2025 has allowed the sexual-assault and trafficking allegations against Combs to proceed. As of now, Lil Rod has not publicly responded to these specific counterclaims. Under federal procedure, Jones is generally expected to provide an answer within 21 days of service, pending any adjustments to the schedule by Judge J. Paul Oetken.
