The music industry is currently grappling with the fallout from the recent removal of Macklemore from Ed Sheeran‘s Loop Tour. The decision, which followed the rapper’s vocal support for Palestine, has sparked a significant protest among fellow performers who have chosen to drop out of the tour in solidarity.
A Growing Movement of Solidarity
Following Macklemore‘s statement regarding his removal—which he attributed to pressure from stadium owners led by Robert Kraft—Ed Sheeran confirmed he had been approached by venue stakeholders. While Sheeran maintained he was not complicit in the decision, his neutral stance has drawn sharp criticism from peers who view the silencing of political speech as unacceptable.
The Irish band Beoga, who served as Sheeran’s backing band, were among the first to exit. In a statement, the group noted, “To play in venues that silence anyone advocating for a Free Palestine is simply not an option for us.”

Further Departures
The exodus continued as FINNEAS announced his departure on Tuesday afternoon. The producer and artist stated, “Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed. I stand with Palestine and its people.”
