Ice Cube Celebrates Three Decades of 'Friday' With Special Concert

West Coast icon Ice Cube is set to bring the legacy of the cult-classic film Friday to life with a monumental one-night celebration. The event, titled “Everyday’s Friday: Lyrics, Loungin’ and Laughing,” will take place at the Long Beach Amphitheater on July 17th, marking three decades since the film fundamentally shifted the landscape of comedy and hip-hop culture.

Joining Ice Cube for this milestone event is comedian Mike Epps, who has been a staple of the franchise’s enduring popularity. To ensure the night captures the authentic energy of the series, the concert will also feature performances by Warren G and Scarface.

Reflecting on the significance of the event, Ice Cube emphasized the connection he shares with the audience. “Friday has always been about and for the fans who made it a classic and kept it alive for nearly 30 years,” he stated. “To be able to step back out there with Mike Epps and bring that energy to the stage for a one-night-only experience in Long Beach is special. This show represents the beginning of the next chapter.”

Mike Epps echoed these sentiments, noting the constant feedback he receives from fans regarding the impact of the characters. “Every day for the last 30 years someone has told me how much they loved the Friday franchise and how much the characters mean to them. To reunite with Cube and bring this one-night-only experience to the fans is incredible.”

The timing of the concert is particularly significant, as it coincides with the theatrical release of Last Friday. After years of development, the fourth installment of the franchise is finally set to hit screens, featuring the return of Chris Tucker and Katt Williams, with a script co-written by Ice Cube, DJ Pooh, and Aaron McGruder.

In addition to the musical performances, organizers are hosting a costume contest, offering fans the chance to win up to $2,000 for the best portrayal of their favorite Friday character. This event serves as a testament to the enduring cultural footprint of the franchise and the excitement surrounding its long-awaited return.
