British supercar brand McLaren has officially unveiled its first high-volume hybrid, the Artura Spider. The 2025 Artura Spider is expected to release with a string of new upgrades, putting itself inline with other premium competitors by maintaining its weight at 3,300 pounds.

Its lightweight design is consistent in McLaren’s focus and is amongst some of the lightest convertible supercars currently on the market. In a statement, McLaren CEO Michael Leiters says the hybrid delivers, “more power, more dynamic performance, and even higher levels of connection…without any compromise in everyday driving.” The car has a folding hardtop roof which disappears into the rear deck in 11 seconds when convertible mode is activated (even if the car is travelling at high speeds of 31mph). The roof panel is constructed with carbon-fiber composite, and has the option of being made with electrochromic glass, turning the glass transparent or opaque at a touch of a button.

Besides the retractable roof, other specs of the McLaren Artura Spider include a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 and an axial flux electric motor. With an extra 20hp, the car has a total power of nearly 700hp. With an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, the update improves shift times by 25% with response levels at an all-time high. The car covers zero to 60mph in just 3.0 seconds, with a top speed of 205 mph. The car also has three handling modes, arriving in comfort, sport and track. Injecting a little more fun into things, the car also has a new “Spinning Wheel Pull-Away” function that gives shredding rubber and doing donuts a new meaning. The Artura Spider is now available to order now.
