A 2005 MG XPower SV-R 5-Speed, a rare model with only 42 units produced for a single model year, is now up for auction on Bring A Trailer. This particular car is even further rarified, as it’s one of only 23 left-hand-drive examples and thought to be the sole example residing in the U.S.

Originally delivered to B.V. Automobielbedrijf Charles Serry A.C.C. in Hilversum, Netherlands, the car was sold to its first private owner in 2008, who kept it until it was acquired by the current owner in 2022. The car is finished in classic British Racing Green with contrasting brown leather upholstery and carbon-fiber bodywork. Under the hood, it boasts a 5.0L Ford V8 engine, tuned by Roush, paired with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, producing 385 hp.

Key features of the XPower SV-R include independent suspension, electronic traction control, power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, Brembo anti-lock disc brakes, 18” O.Z. Racing two-piece forged wheels and Recaro bucket seats with four-point harnesses. Modern amenities like power-folding mirrors, automatic climate control, power windows and a Pioneer CD player are also included.

It is worth noting that this particular vehicle was imported to the U.S. under a “show or display” exemption in 2024, as a result, it can only be driven 2,500 miles per year and must be made available for inspection until it is not less than 25 years old — which in this case won’t be long.

At the time of writing, the highest bid for this rare MG XPower SV-R, with only 2,900 miles on it, sits at just over $50,000 USD, with five days left on the auction clock.
