Lamborghini has unveiled the Urus SE, the brand’s inaugural hybrid plug-in Super SUV, which debuted at Volkswagen Group’s Media Night before its public reveal at the 2024 Beijing Motor Show. This launch marks a significant technological advancement with its 790 hp hybrid powertrain and also through its alignment with Lamborghini’s commitment to electrification and decarbonization.
The Urus SE sets new standards in its category for power, performance and efficiency, boasting the ability to travel over 40 miles in electric mode. Its updated design integrates enhanced aerodynamics and cutting-edge technology to deliver an unmatched driving experience. The vehicle features a twin-turbo 4L V8 engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined output of 790 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque. This powerhouse enables the Urus SE to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of nearly 200 mph, making it the fastest production car in its segment.
Speaking on the new vehicle, Lamborghini Chairman and CEO, Stephan Winkelmann said “With the Urus we changed the paradigms of the SUV world, ushering in a new segment,” adding “In just a few years, the Urus has become our brand’s bestseller, enabling Lamborghini to attract new customers and strengthen its position in the most important markets. With the Urus SE, we’ve taken another step towards the future in line with our Direzione Cor Tauri strategy, moving ahead with the electrification of the range and the path toward decarbonization that began with the introduction of the Revuelto super sports car in March 2023.”
The SUV’s design reflects a blend of luxury and sportiness, with a new hood, updated front grille and matrix LED headlight clusters that draw inspiration from the Lamborghini Revuelto. The interior boasts a “feel like a pilot” ambiance, enhanced by a new 12.3-inch touchscreen display and innovative Human Machine Interface (HMI), elevating interaction between the driver and the digital systems.
Further distinguishing the Urus SE are its extensive customization options, including over 100 bodywork colors and a variety of interior configurations, allowing owners to personalize their vehicles.
At the time of writing, details on delivery and availability have not yet been shared, however, it is believed that retail pricing for the Urus SE will start at $258,000 USD.
