Renowned automotive innovator Lanzante is set to unveil its latest creation, the TAG Championship, at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. This exclusive model celebrates motorsport heritage, paying homage to McLaren‘s back-to-back Formula 1 titles in the 1980s.

Lanzante, celebrated for its racing-inspired reimaginings of iconic cars like the 930-generation Porsche 911 and the McLaren P1, continues its tradition with the TAG Championship. This new addition to their lineup will be produced as an extremely limited run of just three examples, making it a highly coveted collector’s item.

Each of the three TAG Championship models will feature Porsche-built period TAG motors and will be named in honor of the drivers and years of McLaren’s championship victories — design inspiration will also be taken from the cars driven in these victories.  Notably, these models are enhancements of the previously acclaimed TAG Turbo, which famously integrated a V6 Formula 1 engine into the 930 Porsche 911.

One of the standout features of the TAG Championship is its significant weight reduction, shedding nearly 950 pounds compared to its Porsche donor car. The race-used 1.5L twin-turbocharged TAG V6 engines, reengineered and built by Cosworth, are certified by McLaren, ensuring top-tier performance and authenticity. Performance-wise, they boast a rev limit of 10,250 rpm, 625 hp and a top speed of 200 mph.

Attendees of the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed will be able to experience the Lanzante TAG Championship car in all its glory, from July 11 to 14 — a vehicle that will surely gather a crowd.
